ServSafe Alcohol is a comprehensive training program that is approved by the Illinois Liquor Control Commission that began in 2012. The two-day in-person in-language (Cantonese, Mandarin) class will conclude with a BASSET certification examination. The class is free and is offered annually in the spring.
BASSET-certified business owners and servers will learn how to:
- comply with state laws and local ordinances
- take steps when dealing with overconsumption to protect both client and business
- better identify fake ID cards and stop serving to underage youth
The 2015 classes were offered on April 13-14 and April 22-23. For a comprehensive list of other FREE classes offered by ILCC, visit dontbesorry.org.
Effective July 1, 2015, the new Cook County law will require the BASSET certification within 120 days of employment and to be recertified every three years for all on-premise servers and bouncers.
