Sustainability and Cultural Competency are integrated into the entire Strategic Prevention Framework process. A sustainable program has sufficient resources to maintain its impact over a long period of time. Focusing on sustainability throughout the SPF process means thinking beyond the initial funding and considering the human, social, and capital resources within the community.
Cultural competency is a key priority for the Coalition for Asian Substance Abuse Prevention (CASAP). CASAP maintains frequently contact with Chinatown partners to deliver information that is pertinent to the population as well as culturally sensitive. This process involves translating campaign materials, meetings with community members, and researching Chinese-American culture.
