CASAP uses the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF), a systemic community-based approach. The SPF ensures that the strengths of both the community and coalition are utilized to create an accurate, authentic, and sustainable plan to improve health.
There are five stages to this framework including:
Sustainability and Cultural Competency is integrated throughout the SPF process.
The Strategic Prevention Framework uses the findings from public health research and evidence-based prevention programs in order to build capacity within states and the prevention field. In turn, this will promote resilience and decrease risk factors in individuals, families, and communities.
